Where do you hold workshops?
We are based in Mountain View, CA, 94041 and we can travel to most locations within the Bay Area. Events taking place outside of 40 miles will incur a $45 fee to cover travel time and expenses (plus an additional $45 delivery fee of your fired finished pieces)
Events taking place within 40 miles don’t incur additional fees. -
What are the max & min attendee numbers?
Our classes are optimized for between 10 and 20 participants. Please contact us to discuss if your estimated attendee number falls outside of this.
-
What is the cost of your classes, and what is included?
Both our Pottery Painting and Sgraffito Carving workshops are priced at $50 USD per person. If selecting to make candle holders, there is a $5 per person surcharge to cover time and materials to complete each candle.
All tools and materials, along with a professional ceramics instructor, are included.
-
When will I get my finished piece?
This does vary depending on the class and production volume. At busy times it may be slightly longer, but on average, pieces will be returned within 3 weeks.
Each piece needs to be fired twice before completion - we appreciate your patience and promise it will be worth the wait! -
What happens to our pieces after the class?
We will carefully transport each piece to our studio, where they will be fired twice. Once to Bisque temperature to seal any under-glazes and to strengthen for glazing. Each piece will then be clear-glazed and fired at cone 5 (~ 2167F / 1186C).
Once complete, we will deliver to you at the original event location, or a location of choice within 40 miles of CA 94041. Locations outside of this will incur a $45 delivery fee to cover time & expenses. -
Will my finished product be food-safe?
Yes, all of our under-glazes and glazes are 100% lead-free, non-toxic and food-safe.
Every piece will also be dishwasher and microwave safe. -
Does everyone in the workshop have to make the same item?
No! Providing we have enough notice, we are happy to make everyone the item of their choice from the workshop inventory. It’s totally fine to have a mix. Just bear in mind that every piece is handmade by us beforehand, so we need to factor in production time.
-
I'm not very artistic - will I still enjoy the class?
Our classes are designed to be accessible to all skill levels. If your creative juices aren’t flowing, we’ll have examples on hand for inspiration, along with stencils, stamps, transfers and good old tape (if all else fails, stripes are always a good go-to!) Either way, you’ll end up with something you can be proud of!
-
How long is a workshop?
A standard workshop is 2 hours. Ideally we’ll set up beforehand and clean up after (handled by our team), so as not to eat into class time. Each class begins with a short introduction and instructions, if you’d like to add this onto your booking time, please let us know (allow an extra 10 mins, no charge).
-
What are the room requirements?
We don’t have a long list of requirements, most spaces can be made to work and we bring everything needed, apart from the tables.
Access to water is essential (restroom fine) as each participant will need a small jar of water to work with, and we’ll need it for clean up.
Each participant will need a small working space at a table. Natural / good lighting preferred but not essential.
-
What if I don't have a venue?
We are happy to try to help you find a suitable space. Alternatively, our location in Mountain View, CA 94041 can host small groups inside (10 max), or larger groups outside (20). Please contact us to discuss.
-
How do you know whose piece is whose?
At the end of the workshop, each participant will stamp a number (class identifier) and carve or paint their name on the underside of their piece. We will also write down any notes correlating to your pieces (e.g. chosen candle scent).
-
Do you have spares in the event of any accidental breakage during the Class?
Yes, we will bring a couple of spare pieces just in case. If you’ve opted for a class that has a variety of different pieces (jugs, mugs, candles etc), then we cannot guarantee a like-for-like replacement. We’ll also have repair materials on hand for any minor issues, should they occur.
-
Do you have Liability Insurance?
Yes, we are a fully registered and insured business and able to provide required documentation.
-
Do you run workshops outside of the Bay Area?
No. We’re a small company, and currently only able to cover classes within the Bay Area.
